Chaka Khan
Chaka, or Queen of Funk as she is often referred to she was an American singer-songwriter. In the course of her nearly fifty years of career the singer was awarded 10 Grammys. Billboard Magazine ranked her as the 65th most successful dance artist of all time. Her grandmother introduced her to jazz as an infant. In the early years of her career, she performed with various bands. In the future she would become a member of the band Rufus. When she was twenty the singer released her first album together in the band. The group received their first Grammy prize a year later. A few years later, she released her first album as an artist on her own. Through the years, she has recorded a few albums like 'Echoes of an Era, The Woman I am as well as Funk This. In addition to her contribution to music, she's also been recognized through her charitable work. She established Chaka Khan Foundation to help children in need. Chaka Khan Foundation to help kids from families with low incomes, as well as people with autism. Khan is also a frequent actress. She was her character Sister Carrie as the main character in the musical "Mama, I'm Wanting to Sing'.
